About Me

Welcome to The Naked Shallot!

Hey there! My name is Teri Mead. Born and raised in Erie, PA, I am 32 flavors. Home cook, makeup junkie, aspiring iPhone photographer, wine lover, mama to a spoiled beagle & a pit-lab mix — just to name a few. I’m dedicating this blog to telling the story of my life through the lens of things that spark my passion. My two dogs, my husband, teaching adults, cooking, traveling — whatever tickles my fancy that day.

My husband, Matt, and I have been married since 2012. Together we share a love of traveling, cooking, entertaining friends, and spending time with our fur babies.Lucky for us, our jobs allow us to work mostly from home so we have the flexibility to indulge our passion for travel.

One of my favorite ways to unwind is snuggling with our two four-legged fur babies while scrolling through Pinterest searching for new ideas – cooking, inspiration, iPhone photography, travel destinations, and everything in between. I have been known to lose hours watching makeup tutorials and pinning new recipes to try. Please don’t judge…

I decided to start this blog one evening while Matt and I were cooking dinner. I was cooking this delicious shrimp dip I found on Pinterest. Because I have a garlic intolerance (read: serious intestinal distress), I often use shallots as an alternative. Matt was helping me chop all the vegetables I needed for the recipe. When I added everything to the skillet, we were left with a small peeled shallot. Matt asked me, “So, what are we going to do with this naked shallot?” And, thus, the name and idea for this blog was born.

Happy reading and best of luck on your own life’s adventures
